If we believe there is a God, it stands to reason that he would use some method to communicate with us. He communicates in many ways but, perhaps, the most important is the Bible. This is what I found in my research to prove the Bible is reliable:

  • The Bible claims to be the Word of God 2Ti 3:16   1Th 2:13
  • The oldest bible text was written in Hebrew and dates back to the 10th century BC and is virtually unchanged to this day.
  • Early Believers believed it even to the point of giving their lives rather than denouncing Him. Many had seen the resurrected Jesus.
  • The Bible consists of 66 Books written by 40 men over a period of 1,600 years. All of which ultimately lead us to faith in Jesus.
  • The sixty-six books of the Bible do not tell sixty-six stories. Together they tell one story.
  • The Old Testament tells us He is coming. The New Testament announces that He has arrived. All without contradiction.
  • Jesus often quoted scripture (old Testament) during His earthly ministry. Luk 24:7  Mat 4:4  Mat 4:7  Mat 4:10  Jhn 5:39
  • Jesus is the Word of God Jhn 1:1-3
  • Jesus fulfilled more than 200 specific Old Testament prophesies concerning His birth, life and death. Gen 3:15  Isa 7:14  Mic 5:2  Isa 53:5-7  Psa 22:18  Psa 34:20

The bible has stood the test of time, against all odds.

No matter how many translations you compare,  God’s message comes through. There are about 900 printed English Bible translations and paraphrases, complete or partial, according to the American Bible Society.

Finally, out of curiosity I searched the internet and discovered the following:

The Reliable Historical Record

  • The Bible is supported by thousands of ancient manuscripts, with around 24,000 copies available for comparison.
  • These manuscripts allow scholars to reconstruct the original texts with a high degree of confidence.
  • The New Testament alone has about 5,400 distinct pieces, many dating back to the first three centuries.

Consistent Eyewitness Accounts

  • The biblical authors, particularly in the New Testament, provide consistent accounts of events, especially regarding Jesus’s life, death, and resurrection.
  • These accounts are not merely fictional; they reflect the authors’ genuine beliefs and experiences.

Doctrinal Integrity

  • No major doctrine of orthodox Christianity relies on disputed or uncertain passages, ensuring that core beliefs remain intact despite minor textual variations.
  • The Bible’s message has remained coherent and consistent throughout its history, reinforcing its reliability.

Endorsement by Jesus

  • Jesus himself affirmed the trustworthiness of the Scriptures, which adds a significant layer of credibility to the biblical texts.
  • His resurrection is a cornerstone event that supports the claims made in the Bible, particularly regarding its historical reliability.

Conclusion

The combination of a reliable historical record, consistent eyewitness accounts, doctrinal integrity, and the endorsement of Jesus provides strong reasons to trust the Bible as a credible source of spiritual and historical truth.
